Eclectus are one of the most striking birds and also one of the few parrots that are sexually dimorphic - that is you can tell the sex of the bird simply by looking at it. Males are vibrant green while females are iridescent purple and red. Our experience with these birds has been that they make very good family pets, but do occasionally bond to one gender (men or women). We have seen some of our babies go to homes that the kids just grab them like a cat and take off with them, and they don't care at all. I think they have very tolerant personalities. They seem to adjust well to different people and remain friendly. Their talking ability is good. (From www.Parrots.com)

Cory, my Male Eclectus, crossed the Rainbow Bridge the evening of March 2, 2021. I took him in as an elderly parrot, plucked, thin and from an abusive past. We fell in love at first site. For 15 years, we had such a special bond. I have other parrots but Cory was the most special. Maybe it was because of his terrible past, he needed more love. The night he passed, he took a piece of my soul with him. He can now fly for the first time. I heard a poem long ago that reminds me of this magnificent creature;
